A former employee of Steak 'n Shake in Missouri carried out an armed robbery at the restaurant's back office approximately two months after his employment ended, as reported by authorities. Following the robbery, the individual embarked on a lavish five-day spending spree, detailed in an October 20 news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Missouri.

During this spree, the ex-employee made extravagant purchases such as a new iPhone and a diamond ring for his girlfriend. Additionally, he covered expenses like rent and his girlfriend's phone bill. Unfortunately, he also fell victim to an online scam while attempting to purchase a car, resulting in a loss of $1,000.

Fast forward nearly three years later, records indicate that the Riverview man has been sentenced to federal prison for his criminal actions. Despite requests for comment from his defense attorney remaining unanswered, prosecutors revealed that evidence and testimony confirmed the armed robbery took place at the Berkeley restaurant owner's office around 12:30 a.m. on January 23, 2021.

Following a jury's verdict in June, the man was found guilty of two felonies: possession and brandishing a firearm with intent to commit robbery affecting commerce and interfering with commerce through threats of violence. On October 19, the judge sentenced him to serve 10 years and five months in prison, along with ordering restitution of $3,715.
