Wasn’t it nice to have someone in front of you pay for lunch. You feel good about it and decide to pay it forward and pay for the person behind you. You may be a good-hearted person, but may have also been set up for a scam.
Morty, a Las Vegas resident was inspired by this act of kindness and decided to continue the chain by covering the bill for the car behind him. Little did he know that this seemingly simple gesture would lead to a shocking revelation.
As Morty glanced in his rearview mirror, he saw only one person in the car behind him and assumed it would be a modest order. To his surprise, the total bill amounted to over $53, leaving him bewildered and questioning how such a substantial amount had been accumulated. It was a scam that has been circulating in Las Vegas for years.
The scam operates by an initial individual paying for a small order to encourage the recipient to continue the chain. Subsequently, their accomplice pulls up behind and places an extravagant order, leaving the unsuspecting recipient with a hefty bill they feel obligated to pay.
