The pop-up on the man’s computer said he had been hacked and he needed to put together $150,000 to protect the machine. That’s a large chunk of change and I can never understand why people don’t get suspicious until after they’ve turned over the money.
He went to the police, but it was too late. The money was gone and there is no evidence of who they are.
The world is not as dangerous a place as a lots of people believe, but it never hurts to keep your “Spidey sense” alert for those who have no qualms about stealing your money.
